Abinger Common
Why live in Abinger Common?
With St James’s Church, a well, an excellent pub called The Abinger Hatch, and 19th-century village hall positioned around the village green, this rural village ticks lots of (chocolate-box village) boxes! Behind the church is the site of a Mesolithic dwelling discovered in the 1950s (said to be one of the finest examples of a Middle Stone Age settlement in Europe) where more than 1,000 flint tools were found.
Transport
There are buses to/from Guildford and Redhill via Dorking and Reigate and to/from Gatwick, Crawley. Gomshall Station (approx. 4 miles) has trains to Redhill (22 mins) and Guildford (approx. 15 mins) for connections to London. West Dorking is just over 4 miles, with trains into London Waterloo.
Schools
The Surrey Hills Church of England Primary School is in the village, while Belmont School — a private school near Dorking, offers day and boarding options for ages 3-16.
