Alfold
Why live in Alfold?
This village on the Surrey/Sussex border has a lovely rural feel yet is conveniently close to all the amenities of Cranleigh, as well as being midway between the market towns of Horsham and Guildford. The village centre features character period homes and St Nicholas Church with its village stocks, one of only two complete sets of stocks in Surrey. There’s a village shop and popular pub, The Sir Roger Tichborne, just up the road. The Alfold Barn is a traditional family-run restaurant on the Horsham Road.
The village hall is at Alfold Crossways along with sports fields that are home to Alfold’s cricket, tennis and football clubs and the sports and social club.
Transport
The nearest train station is at Witley, on the Portsmouth Direct Line to Waterloo. Buses operate to/from Cranleigh and Ewhurst and Guildford, via Godalming and to Worthing via Pulborough.
Schools
Nearest schools are Loxwood Primary School and Rudgwick Primary School. Secondary schools include Glebelands in Cranleigh and The Weald School in Billingshurst. There are many private options, including Cranleigh School, Longacre, St Catherine’s in Bramley and Charterhouse in Godalming.
