Cranleigh
Why live in Cranleigh?
Cranleigh is unusual in that it combines the charms of a large English village – such as an expansive cricket green bordered by period properties – with the amenities of a small town – including a mix of high street retailers and independents, restaurants, a leisure centre, arts centre and weekly market. The village has a friendly, community feel with plenty of clubs and activities for residents of all ages. On the southern edge of the Surrey Hills AONB, Cranleigh is roughly 20 minutes from the market towns of Guildford, Godalming and Horsham. Many describe living here as enjoying the best of both worlds: being close to towns yet surrounded by glorious countryside, with the bonus of being about a 45-minute drive from the south coast.
Transport
Numerous buses run through Cranleigh to Guildford, Godalming and Horsham. The nearest train station is Chilworth (approx. 6 miles), while Guildford station, with direct services to London Waterloo is about 10 miles away.
Schools
Cranleigh has an infant school and primary schools including Park Mead, Cuthbert Mayne and Cranleigh Church CofE, while Glebelands is the main secondary school. Private options include Cranleigh School, St Catherine’s in Bramley, Duke of Kent in Peaslake and Hurtwood House (Sixth Form).
