Holmbury St Mary
Why live in Holmbury St Mary?
If you’re looking for great community spirit in a stunning, sleepy setting, Holmbury St Mary is hard to beat. Nestled in a valley on the eastern slopes of Holmbury Hill in the heart of the Surrey Hills AONB, this is regarded by many as one of Surrey's prettiest villages. There’s a fine church, built on a prominent hillside in the centre of the village by the celebrated Victorian architect George Edmund Street, a green, a duck pond, a well, a post office (part-time) and two pubs, The Royal Oak and The King’s Head.
Behind the beer garden of the Royal Oak on the green is the charming, picture postcard cricket ground, home to Holmbury St Mary Cricket Club, one of the many clubs and societies catering for residents.
The wooded hills surrounding the village are increasingly popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders for good reason – even living here, you would never tire of exploring the beautiful countryside.
