Shamley Green
Why live in Shamley Green?
This picturesque Surrey village, just 6 miles from Guildford, is very popular with families seeking excellent schools and an outdoors/country lifestyle. There’s a pretty village green, which is home to cricket matches in the summer, and a duck pond. Around the green are numerous 18th-century period properties, which add to the location’s aesthetic charm.
There are two characterful pubs, the Red Lion and The Bricklayers Arms, as well as The Forge, a café run as a social enterprise, and a village shop for everyday provisions. Shamley Green’s fine 19th century Christ’s Church is set back from the road on the outskirts of the village.
Shamley Green is surrounded by glorious countryside with miles of walking, riding and cycling opportunities across to Blackheath and Farley Heath.
Transport
There are buses to/from Guildford and Horsham via Ewhurst/Cranleigh as well as services to Godalming and to St Peter’s School in Merrow. Mainline trains to London are available from Guildford (6 miles).
Schools
Wonersh and Shamley Green Primary School and Longacre Independent School are both in the village.
