We’re very pleased to see the arrival of spring in our local villages and for most of us now our attention is turning to the upcoming Easter season and the array of events and outings it brings. The local area is one which at this time of year truly offers something for everyone.
Over Easter both locals and visitors alike will be preparing to head out and enjoy what’s on offer from markets showcasing artisanal crafts to serene countryside strolls. Here is our local ‘insiders guide’ to the wealth of upcoming local events, promising experiences that will delight all the family.
In Cranleigh last year the hard work that had gone into developing a local community parkland was realised and this year the Knowle Park Trust will be holding 2 activities over the holidays the Knowle Park Easter Egg Hunt and also a Bunny Trail for young visitors to enjoy.
The longstanding Cranleigh Lions Easter Egg Hunt will also take place, and helps in raising money for all of the amazing charities the Lions support throughout the year. This year it will take place at The Showground in Cranleigh in aid of the Air Ambulance service.
If you’re looking to head out and enjoy the start of the spring flowering season there are lots of places locally that make a great place to visit but also to inspire your own home gardens. Ramster Hall is famous for its stunning spring colour, with over 25 acres of peaceful woodland to stroll around and the opportunity to stop for refreshments at their Tea House too.
Or head further into Sussex to visit the gardens at Arundel Castle and you can also get involved in their Easter Medieval Festival.
For those looking for something more slow paced, in Loxwood, there will be Easter boat trips on the Wey and Arun canal which is run and maintained by a committed group of volunteers take in the views and perhaps stop for refreshments at The Onslow pub right by the canal.
You could head to the thriving Arts Centre in Cranleigh where there are some great events on over the Easter period, from Spring concerts to Arts and Craft. Watch this space as it won't be long before we share more on our continued support of the In2Drama scholarship for their summer masterclasses.
This time of year also signals the start of the Cricket season and we are pleased to be continuing with our support for Cranleigh Cricket Club as we have done for many years now. The village cricket green really is the perfect spot to come and soak up some early spring sunshine and watch a match.
And the Easter prediction for the housing market is that locally we are still very busy. Our team have been supporting lots of sales currently with a return to strong prices being achieved. This is something we believe will continue to improve as we come into spring.
